hi,

this is a much awaited reply of the post longwaited replies by ZERO.

I appreciate your endevour in digging out information and viewing the whole thing scientifically.

Your calculations are well performed and what i understand as a jist of it ,that human power can be limited upto 500 watts, but a vaccum cleaner may require upto 2200 watts, right?

But what i fail to understand is that how vaccum cleaner may run on just 150 watts?

I checked Eureka forbes website(http://www.eurekaforbes.com/products/product.php?catid=34&&prid=22)
and(http://www.eurekaforbes.com/products/product.php?catid=34&&prid=21)

and found this data:

For some product of theirs:

Rated Voltage 230 V AC, 50 Hz
Rated Current 0.65 amps
Rated Power 150 watts
Maximum Suction 4116 Pascals
(420 mm water column)
Dimension (l*d*h) 480 * 100 * 100 mm
Net Weight (main unit) 1.10 kg
Std. Accessories 4

And yet for another product, what you said was true:

Voltage 230 V AC, 50 HZ
Input power 2100 Watts
Suction 1600 mm/H20 or 15680 Pascals
Dimension (L * B * H) 400 * 355 * 500 mm
Net Weight 14.2 Kg

It boggles me how the first one runs on 150 watts power.
So,i think it might just not be impossible to build a mechanical vaccum cleaner.

What say?
Hugs for a great new year,
sameer

Basically the answer lies in the pressure difference
Here is the comparison
1. 4 kPa
2. 15 kPa

My assumption
20 kPa

Mechanization is good, but still its a step forward like taking a step back. Why do you want a mechanical model, because there is no electricity for other kind of Vac, good, I obviously think that such vac is possible yo make, and should be made, but have you ever though about the time it would take, to clean my room with a mech-vac. This is regressive step... rather our force should be in making electricity omnipresent in INDIA. Its not only necessary for a vac but also for overall development. Think of it, Sameer, but, said that, I would really like to see a mech-vac, and if needed I would even think of funding it, but would like to see it go to production stage. To sum it up, I want it to be materialize.

Zero,
thats true.well observed.
but what power rating and what pressure diff would you think to be good for a mechancal vacc?

not a super duper all purpose, but just a simple one for dust and fine particles?

this is for kt.

kt,i feel that we must go in for mechanization.coz by the time we are able to get elec to vey willage,we'll be out of fossil fuels, and will be curiously searching for other means.

mechzaiation relies on self sufficiency.not waiting for power cuts to get over.like to the girl in south who made the amazing mech washing machine.

Lets try to mechanize as many things as possible without theloss of the comfort and reliablity.

Help me to find a knowldege base fom where this project can be concretized.well pitch in zero also.
